SOUTHERN ICE FIELDS
The Southern Patagonian Ice Field is largest expanse of continental ice in the world after Antarctica and Greenland, the largest non-polar ice field in the world and the largest ice field accessible by land. It is situated in the Patagonian Andes on the border between Argentina and Chile. You will be able to visit one of the glaciers fed by this magnificent ice field by taking our trip through the Patagonian fjords. (Glacier visits are only possible in high season, weather permitting)
How to get to the Southern Ice Fields
The Ice Field is located in the Patagonian Andes, on the border between Argentina and Chile. It is 350 km in length from north to south and has a surface area of 16,800 km². The Pío XI and Amalia Glaciers are in this Ice Field.
Navimag Patagonia ferry itineraries visit the Pio XI or Amalia Glaciers on their trip from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales and Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt.
Departures from Puerto Montt are on Fridays and from Puerto Natales on Tuesdays all year round.
(Southern Ice Field visits are only possible in high season, from October to March)
