NORTHERN ICE FIELDS
The Northern Patagonian Ice Field has a surface area of approximately 4,200 km², and is entirely inside Chile’s Aysén Region. It is about 120 km long from north to south and varies from 50 to 70 km in width from east to west.
How to get to the Northern Ice Field
Located within Aysén Region, the Northern Ice Field has an approximate surface area of 4,200 km². The San Rafael Glacier is part of this ice field, and flows down into Laguna San Rafael.
Navimag Ferries sails from Puerto Montt to Puerto Chacabuco where you can continue on to the Northern Ice Field.
Departures from Puerto Montt to Puerto Chacabuco are on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year.
